Overview
The D+H GVL 8408-M is a 24 V DC natural ventilation control panel for medium window automation applications. It is suited to projects where multiple windows or louvres are operated as grouped natural ventilation zones using local controls, external control signals, room temperature control and optional wind/rain sensor protection.
EBSA can assist with actuator selection, control panel selection, wiring coordination and commissioning support to confirm that the system is suitable for the project requirements.
At-a-glance
| Application | Natural ventilation |
|---|---|
| Panel output | 24 V DC / 8 A total drive current |
| Ventilation groups | 5 as standard, can be expanded to 6 with an optional GME83 plug in card |
| Fire zones / lines | Not applicable — GVL series panels are for natural ventilation only |
| Control inputs | Wall switch / external control / room temperature control / wind-rain sensor |
| Housing | GEH-KST sold separately, plastic with sheet metal door |
| Dimensions (WxHxD) | 310 x 310 x 100 mm of GEH-KST housing |
| Manufacturer | D+H Mechatronic |
Best suited to
- Medium sized natural ventilation window automation systems.
- Control of multiple windows or louvres with up to 5 individual zones (groups).
- Projects requiring more panel capacity than smaller GVL control panels.
- Local wall switch, external control or room temperature control operation.
- Weather-protected systems using wind/rain sensor input.
- Natural ventilation projects where a smoke control panel or close on loss of power is not required.
For larger or more complex systems: For smoke control, BMS integration, power-fail close requirements or more complex functionality, EBSA can assist with selection of a suitable D+H RZN or custom CPS-M control panel.
Typical system arrangement
Wall switch / external control → GVL 8408-M → grouped windows open / close
Room temperature control → GVL 8408-M → automatic natural ventilation control
Wind/rain sensor → GVL 8408-M → windows close on weather signal
Technical notes for specifiers
- This is a natural ventilation control panel.
- It is not intended as a smoke control panel and does not include a dedicated fire input or failsafe battery backup operation.
- The GVL series does not provide automatic close on loss of power. If this function is required, consider a D+H RZN or custom CPS-M panel.
- Confirm total actuator current before selection.
- Confirm the number of windows, actuator type, control groups and group plug-in unit requirements.
- Confirm weather sensor, room temperature control and local control requirements.
- Confirm whether BMS or other third-party controls are required.
Notes for builders, electrical contractors and aluminium joiners
Builder / electrical contractor
- Allow for power supply requirements based on the final panel configuration.
- Allow cabling between panel, switches, sensors, room controls and actuators.
- Confirm final panel location with EBSA.
- Confirm final control locations and sensor locations before wiring.
- Confirm commissioning responsibilities before installation.
Architectural aluminium joiner (drive compatibility)
- Confirm drive compatibility before fabrication.
- Allow for drive fixing points and cable pathways in the window frame, where possible, to conceal cables.
- Contact EBSA to select the correct bracket set for your window.
- Confirm whether EBSA is supplying drives only or a full turnkey solution.
- Confirm what colour drives are required and whether a standard 2.5 m cable tail is suitable for your windows.
Compatible products
Compatible with:
- D+H 24 V chain drives.
- GEH-KST or GEH-S-RWA housing.
- D+H GME83 group plug-in unit.
- Wind/rain sensors.
- Wall switches.
- Room temperature controls.
- Natural ventilation accessories.
Consider instead:
- GVL 8301-K V2 or GVL 8304-K natural ventilation panel — for smaller natural ventilation applications with lower total drive current requirements.
- RZN smoke control panel — where smoke ventilation, fire zones or failsafe battery operation is required.
- CPS-M modular control panel — customised to each project, with flexible zoning for natural ventilation, smoke control, stand-alone logic or BMS interfacing.
About CPS-M: EBSA CPS-M panels are custom designed as project-specific control solutions using D+H modular components. The process begins by establishing the project scope, control philosophy and functional requirements, which are then developed into shop drawings and wiring schematics. Once approved, the panel is built by EBSA to suit the agreed design and control logic.
