Compact smoke and natural ventilation control panel
The D+H CPS-B1-2.5 is a compact battery-backed control panel for smoke ventilation and day-to-day natural ventilation.
It provides 2.5 A total drive current, one ventilation group and one monitored fire line within an integrated white plastic enclosure. The compact format is particularly suited to stairwells, smoke-relief openings and small single-zone window or louvre systems.
During normal building operation, the panel can operate compatible windows, louvres or roof openings using a wall switch, weather sensor, low-level BMS interface or other approved control input. When a fire signal is received, fire-mode operation takes priority and the connected openings move according to the agreed cause-and-effect sequence.

Smoke-control certification and safety functions
The CPS-B1-2.5 is tested and certified as smoke-control power-supply equipment to ISO 21927-9 and EN 12101-10.
The panel supports configurable smoke-control safety functions including monitored fire operation, fault-equals-alarm behaviour and fire-mode retriggering.
Fire-mode operation
The CPS-B1-2.5 receives a fire-alarm or compatible manual smoke-control signal through its monitored fire line.
When a fire signal is received, the panel gives priority to the programmed fire-mode operation and commands the connected windows, louvres or roof openings to move to their required smoke-control position.
The compact single-line format is well suited to stairwells and other defined smoke-control zones requiring a straightforward cause-and-effect sequence.
Natural ventilation operation
The panel also provides day-to-day natural ventilation through its single ventilation group.
Compatible control inputs can include:
- open and close wall switches;
- rain detectors;
- wind/rain sensors;
- low-level BMS interfaces; and
- other approved external control signals.
Fire-mode commands retain priority over normal ventilation controls.
Weather protection
A compatible rain detector or wind/rain sensor can connect directly to the CPS-B1-2.5.
During normal ventilation operation, a weather signal can command the connected openings to close. Fire-mode operation retains priority according to the agreed system sequence.
Standby batteries and mains power failure
The CPS-B1-2.5 uses monitored standby batteries to maintain the control system when the normal 230 V AC mains supply fails.
Where automatic close on loss of mains power is included in the operating strategy, the panel commands the connected openings to close and remains ready to respond to a subsequent fire signal during the standby period.
The battery capacity is selected for the connected actuator load, required standby period, operating sequence and project requirements.
Typical system arrangement
Normal ventilation:
Wall switch or approved external control → CPS-B1-2.5 → connected opening opens or closes
Weather protection:
Rain or wind/rain sensor → CPS-B1-2.5 → connected opening closes during normal ventilation operation
Fire operation:
Fire-alarm input → CPS-B1-2.5 → connected opening moves to the required smoke-control position
Loss of mains power:
Standby batteries maintain panel operation → connected opening follows the configured power-failure sequence
Drive capacity and system selection
The total connected actuator load must remain within the panel’s 2.5 A output capacity.
Panel selection should account for:
- the selected actuator models;
- the rated and starting current of each actuator;
- the number of connected actuators;
- the total connected load;
- simultaneous operating requirements;
- cable length and voltage drop;
- the single ventilation-group arrangement;
- the single monitored fire-line arrangement;
- the required standby period; and
- the approved cause-and-effect sequence.
Integrated enclosure
The CPS-B1-2.5 is supplied in an integrated white plastic enclosure.
The panel location should provide:
- suitable wall fixing;
- clear cable-entry routes;
- electrical working space;
- access for testing and commissioning;
- access for battery replacement; and
- future maintenance access.
System coordination
The control panel is coordinated with the automated openings, actuators, field cabling, fire-alarm interface, natural ventilation controls and standby-power requirements.
The project team should establish:
- the required smoke-control function;
- the fire-alarm input and cause-and-effect sequence;
- the normal ventilation controls;
- the required opening and closing positions;
- window and actuator selection;
- weather-sensor operation;
- low-level BMS interface requirements;
- field-cable type and route;
- voltage drop;
- panel location;
- termination responsibilities; and

Information for builders and electrical contractors
- Allow for the required 230 V AC supply to the panel.
- Allow cabling between the panel, actuator, switches, weather sensor and fire-alarm interface.
- Confirm any fire-rated cabling or protected cable-pathway requirements.
- Confirm the panel, manual control and sensor locations before wiring.
