Compact 6 A power supply for natural ventilation

The D+H PS-VE6 is a compact surface-mounted power supply for operating compatible 24 V DC window drives.

It converts a 230 V AC supply to 24 V DC and provides up to 6 A output for natural ventilation and automated window applications.

The PS-VE6 is a power supply rather than a complete natural ventilation controller. It requires a separate 230 V AC operating device, such as a compatible ventilation switch or external control relay, to open and close the connected drives.

Typical applications

  • Medium automated window systems
  • Natural ventilation applications
  • High-level windows requiring open and close control
  • Higher-load groups of compatible 24 V DC window drives
  • Installations requiring a compact IP66 surface-mounted enclosure

Key features

  • 24 V DC output
  • 6 A output capacity
  • 230 V AC supply
  • Electronic overload protection
  • Compact surface-mounted enclosure
  • IP66 protection rating
  • Separate 230 V AC operating device required

Power supply or controller?

The PS-VE6 is primarily a 24 V DC power supply.

It does not provide the same integrated control functions as the PS-VFM1 or a D+H GVL natural ventilation control panel. A separate 230 V AC operating device is required to control opening and closing.

Where integrated wall-switch inputs, weather sensors, grouped operation or external control functions are required, a PS-VFM1 or GVL controller may be more appropriate.

Drive capacity

The connected drive load must remain within the 6 A output capacity of the PS-VE6.

Selection should account for the rated current, starting current and quantity of all connected drives, together with cable length and voltage drop.

Where the required arrangement involves several independently controlled groups or more advanced control functions, an enclosed GVL control panel may be more appropriate even where the total drive load remains within 6 A.

Switching and control

The PS-VE6 requires a separate 230 V AC operating device to control the connected drives.

This may include a compatible ventilation switch, control relay or other approved external control arrangement suited to the required operating sequence.

The switching arrangement and field cabling should be confirmed before installation.

Mains power failure

The PS-VE6 does not include standby batteries.

If connected windows, rooflights or louvres are open when the 230 V AC mains supply fails, they will remain in their existing position because the power supply can no longer operate the drives.

Where automatic close on loss of mains power is required, use a battery-backed D+H RZN or CPS-M control panel.

Natural ventilation only

The PS-VE6 is intended for normal natural ventilation and automated window operation.

It must not be used as a substitute for a smoke and natural ventilation control panel where openings must respond to a fire alarm, perform a smoke-control function or remain available from standby batteries during a mains failure.

Installation and coordination

The PS-VE6 should be installed in an accessible location suitable for its IP66 enclosure and electrical connections.

Selection and installation should account for:

  • connected drive models and quantities;
  • rated and starting current;
  • the separate 230 V AC operating device;
  • mains supply requirements;
  • 24 V DC drive cabling;
  • cable length and voltage drop;
  • mounting location and environmental conditions; and
  • access for commissioning and future service.
