Compact 4 A natural ventilation control panel
The D+H GVL 8304-K is a compact 24 V DC natural ventilation control panel for operating one group of compatible window drives.
It is suited to small and medium automated window, louvre and roof-opening systems requiring local wall-switch operation, optional rain-sensor control and up to 4 A total drive current.
The GVL 8304-K combines the power supply and natural ventilation control functions within a compact, accessible enclosure.
Typical applications
- Small and medium automated window systems
- Single-group natural ventilation systems
- Multiple windows or louvres operating together
- High-level windows and roof openings
- Local wall-switch operation
- Systems requiring optional rain-sensor closing
- Projects requiring an enclosed controller rather than a concealed module
Key features
- 24 V DC output
- 4 A total drive current
- One natural ventilation group
- Local open and close wall-switch input
- Optional rain-sensor input
- Compact plastic enclosure
- Natural ventilation operation only

Wall-switch and rain-sensor control
The GVL 8304-K accepts a compatible open and close ventilation switch for normal operation.
An optional rain sensor can be connected so that the controller commands the connected windows, louvres or roof openings to close when rain is detected, provided mains power remains available.
The required switches, sensors and field cabling should be confirmed before installation.
Drive capacity and compatibility
The total connected drive load must remain within the panel’s 4 A output capacity.
Selection should account for:
- the selected drive models;
- the rated and starting current of each drive;
- the number of connected drives;
- cable length and voltage drop;
- the required opening sequence; and
- the number of independently controlled groups.
The GVL 8304-K controls one ventilation group. Where several independently controlled groups or greater total capacity are required, the GVL 8408-M or another control-panel arrangement may be more appropriate.
Typical system arrangement
Normal ventilation:
Wall switch → GVL 8304-K → windows open or close
Weather protection:
Rain sensor → GVL 8304-K → windows close while mains power remains available
Mains power failure
The GVL 8304-K does not include standby batteries.
If the connected windows, louvres or roof openings are open when the 230 V AC mains supply fails, they will remain in their existing position because the controller no longer has power to operate the drives.
A connected rain sensor also cannot close the openings while the controller has no operating power.
Where automatic close on loss of mains power is required, use a battery-backed D+H RZN or CPS-M control panel.
Natural ventilation only
The GVL 8304-K is intended for normal natural ventilation and automated window operation.
It must not be used as a substitute for a smoke and natural ventilation control panel where openings must respond to a fire alarm, perform a smoke-control function or remain available from standby batteries during a mains failure.
Installation and coordination
The control panel should be installed in an accessible location suitable for electrical connection, testing and future maintenance.
The project team should confirm:
- panel location;
- 230 V AC supply;
- drive and field-device cabling;
- wall-switch location;
- rain-sensor location and wiring;
- connected drive load;
- voltage drop;
- termination responsibilities; and
- commissioning requirements.
Information for builders and electrical contractors
- Allow for the required mains supply to the control panel.
- Allow cabling between the panel, wall switch, rain sensor and connected drives.
- Confirm the final panel location before field cabling is completed.
- Provide access to the panel for testing and future maintenance.
- Confirm termination and commissioning responsibilities before installation.
Information for aluminium joiners
- Confirm drive compatibility before window fabrication.
- Allow suitable fixing points for the selected drives and brackets.
- Provide concealed cable pathways within the framing where practical.
- Confirm the required drive colour and cable-tail length.
- Coordinate window hardware, opening geometry and actuator requirements with EBSA.
Compatible equipment
The GVL 8304-K can be used with suitable:
- D+H 24 V DC window drives;
- open and close ventilation switches;
- rain sensors;
- mounting brackets;
- field cabling; and
- natural ventilation accessories.
Compatibility must be confirmed against the selected drives, connected load and required operating arrangement.
When to consider another control panel
Consider a different control-panel arrangement where the project requires:
- more than one independently controlled ventilation group;
- greater than 4 A total drive current;
- smoke ventilation or fire-alarm operation;
- battery-backed operation;
- automatic close on loss of mains power;
- complex BMS or mechanical-services integration; or
- project-specific control logic.
An RZN panel may be suitable for battery-backed smoke and natural ventilation control. CPS-M is used for larger, modular or project-specific control systems.
